BMW M4 Is "Spraying Glade on a Fart" in 2016 Camaro SS Comparison

BMW M4 Is "Spring Glade on a Fart" in 2016 Camaro SS Comparison 1 photo

It's been a while since we've enjoyed watching a video so much. You can forget all about that new Top Gear they are making and even Clarkson's Amazon show. We are going to watch Motor Trend with Jonny Lieberman and Jason Cammisa forever... or at least until they stop being funny.
The guys decided this would be one Mustang versus Camaro comparison too many. Instead, the Mustang was replaced by a BMW M4. Sure, it costs nearly twice as much, but from a pure performance point of view, they are about as equal as your two feet.

The theme of this review is that the guys can't have any fun because they enjoyed the Viper too much and forgot to be subjective. Can they do it with two sideways specialists like the BMW M4 and the all-new Chevy Camaro SS? You'll have to watch it and find out.

Sorry to spoil the outcome for you guys, but the Camaro wins this Head 2 Head easily. They say it's because the BMW check bounced, but we know what's really going on. The first indication that Chevy has built a great car is when the SS wins the drag race. In theory, the two are identical in a straight line, but M4 is not consistent at all.

Almost everything that makes a great sportscar is better on the Camaro. We can forgive the rubbery gear shifter because a manual isn't their specialty. But the engine is a huge problem. Lieberman and Cammisa conclude that all straight-six engines sound good except this one, and they've covered it up with sound from the speakers, which is like Spring Glade on a fart. That has to be the best metaphor in the history of automotive journalism. Or is that an epithet?

Some people say that this M4 is better than every M3 before it. But the 2016 Camaro SS is much, much, much better without even changing the formula that much. The Chevy fans will never let us hear the end of it!
