Now that we know all there is to know about the new M4 GTS, it’s time to take a closer look at the more .... earthly side of things. Yes, I’m talking about money and how much the fastest BMW ever made will cost.
Just as we suspected, the price tag will be close to €150,000 but we had no idea it was going to be this close. The M4 GTS will have a starting price of €142,600 ($160,000 at the current exchange rates) in Germany which also turns it into the most expensive car the Bavarians are offering right now, overshadowing the i8.
This is nearly twice as much as a standard M4. To some it may not be worth the extra trouble but you need to look at this not only from the performance point of view but also as a long-term investment.
Since BMW will only build 700 units of the GTS, this thing will become a classic in the future. If the rest of the industry also decides to use water injection cooling as this car does (it’s a world premiere on a production road-going model) then it will be worth even more in the future.
Chip in the fact that it has Organic LED lighting for the taillights which is also an industry-first and you get a rather tantalizing proposition. Of course, €150,000 is nothing to scoff at and we might be a bit subjective here but heck, we’d love to have one.
If you’re interested in buying one you should know that you get to choose between Sapphire Black Metallic, Mineral Grey Metallic, Alpine White and Frozen Dark Grey Metallic, these being the only colors available for purchase.
The US has 300 units of the total 700 reserved while the UK accounts for 30 more (starting at £121,770), all of them right-hand drive versions, of course. No word on how many for the rest of the world though and we’re expecting Germany to have around 200 at the very least put on the side. Now, if we only knew how much it will cost in the US...
