Earlier this week we took you behind the scenes of the creation process of Vorsteiner’s new wide body kit for the M4. Their kit called ‘GTRS4’ is supposed to follow in the footsteps of the one created for the previous E92 M3 Coupe.
Since that was the idea behind the project, they also wanted to stay true to their initial plans. Therefore, the new kit had to be true to the Vorsteiner design language, functionality and performance.

It was then built in a slow, tedious process during which the guys wanted to make sure everything comes out perfect. The designers were given a rather hard task to do, creating the widest possible fenders without altering everyday functionality too much.

As you saw in the previous photos, the car was 3D scanned using Blue Light Laser Technology. The rendering obtained then were used to create the panels virtually and then put on the car using clay.

The end result is impressive. Now, the front fenders have a total span of 4 inches (10 cm) while the rear quarter panels sit 7 inches wider (17.5 cm) than the original design. Newly designed 3-piece forged wheels also stepped in with extra wide lips, now measuring 20x10.5 inches up front and 20x13.5 round the back with 275 and 345 wide tires.

A proper stance was needed as well, so the car received a KW suspension sleeve kit while the performance was upgraded to 550 HP thanks to ESS Tuning’s E-Tronic tech.

If you’re interested, you can see the GTRS4 kit live at the SEMA Show next week. Prices haven’t been released just yet.
