BMW M4 burning
The episodes when a machine motivated by an internal combustion engine takes the fire outside its cylinders or exhaust are always painful. And a recent example of the sort involves a BMW M4.
The M4 caught fire while it was being driven on the road, with the shenanigan taking place in Turkey. A part of the shenanigan was caught on camera and you'll find the footage at the bottom of the page.

We're not sure what caused the M car to burst up in flames, but we can see the fire engulfing the engine compartment of the vehicle. And while a C6 Corvette is stopped nearby, nobody seems to step in with extinguishers, with the drivers perhaps fearing an explosion.

Now, before jumping to conclusions about any problems the M4 might have (this particular model doesn't seem to be involved in any fire-related recall campaigns), we need to ask ourselves whether the vehicle had been modded. And since we don't know the answer to this question, we'll stop here.

Speaking of the BMW M4, we'll remind you that we've already discussed the next-gen model. Since the Bavarians have introduced the 2019 3 Series this fall, it's only normal to think of the next 4 Series, M model included.

The G20 3er sits on the CLAR architecture, which means the M Division engineers have a strong base to build on - compared to the current architecture, the new one is more rigid.

As for what will happen under the hood, the next M3 and M4 will be animated by a new S58 3.0-liter straight-six. Thanks to a pair of turbos and some form of electric assistance, the unit is expected to producer 450 horses in standard form and 500 ponies in Competition guise.

However, the mill will make its debut on the BMW X3 M and X4 M, which are set to land in the coming months.
