BMW M3 GTS and 6 Series Nearly Kiss on Wet Nurburgring Track Day

Nikki Lauda was right when he said that racing on the Nurburgring on a wet day is absolutely crazy. Unfortunately, he nearly paid for doing so with his life and had to struggle a long time before getting back behind the wheel of a car.
It’s not the same story here but the principle still remains: the Nurburgring is truly the Green Hell it’s known as when the track is wet. Case and point: every wet track day held on the Ring is filled with incidents.

Some are more serious than others and some are just scary with little to no repercussions, just like the video below shows. At the beginning we see a BMW E63 6 Series oversteering and ending up 180 degrees the other way around while an E92 M3 GTS comes up behind it, narrowly missing it.

Props go out to the M3 driver that was capable of keeping cool and avoiding the 6er, especially since he is driving the hyped up version of the Coupe.

The GTS was built to bring even more performance to the track, being fitted with a bored 4.4-liter version of the S65 engine, revised suspension and retuned rear diff. All of this sounds great but in reality, the hardcore character of the M3 might be a bit overwhelming, especially on a wet track.

Also commendable are the other BMW drivers on the track that manage to keep it together with their RWD setups. E36 models are still a local favorite apparently and we love every minute we get to see one on track. Check them out!
