BMW M3 Edition Details

As if not enough news (some good, some bad) come from the German manufacturer these days, BMW announced late last week the release of "four highly individual cars boasting perfectly harmonized modifications in body design and interior features", called M3 Edition.

The M3 comes equipped with a 4.0l, 420 horsepower V8 engine, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard (as an option, the M3 comes with a double-clutch gearbox with Drivelogic enhancing transmission). Put to good use, the engine and transmission will make the M3 reach 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and average a fuel consumption of 11.9l/100 km (23.7 mpg).

The enhancements brought by the M3 Edition are more obvious at the exterior. Depending on the Edition model, the body comes either in Alpine White Non-Metallic, Black Non-Metallic, Dakar Yellow Non-Metallic or Monte Carlo Blue Metallic.

The openings on the engine compartment lid on four models are finished in black. The BMW kidney grille, the side gills and the dual tailpipes on the exhaust system come in dark eloxy-plated chrome. The caps on the special BMW M exterior mirrors come in black and they are connected to the A-pillars by dual arms extending out of the mirror base.

To make it look as special as possible, the Edition benefits from 19 inch forged M light-alloy rims in double-spoke design are available either in black or in the classic rim color. On the Alpine White, Black and Monte Carlo Blue models, the rims are also available in a special white contrasting color with polished spokes.

No prices have yet been released for the M3 Edition, but it is still time, as the four models will be made available, worldwide, in July this year.
