BMW M3 E30 Driven Nothing Short of Brilliantly on IRC Special Stage in Spain

There’s a very good reason good rally pilots can adapt to any type of motor racing, as long as the vehicles still have four wheels: they have god-like reflexes.

Sure, they have their co-pilots yelling out information about every upcoming turn over the intercom, but if you think that makes it easy, try focusing on driving really fast on a potentially fatal course while also trying to give a damn about the precious info your passenger is kind enough to share with you. No, it’s not easy.

You know how there are motivational videos for all kinds of stuff? Well, if you ever need one for wanting to get into your car and drive it like you stole it, look no further. This is the equivalent of watching Belgian chocolate makers pour the delicious brown stuff over almonds and the like when all you want to do is lose weight: just like stuffing ten chocolate truffles in your mouth would be wrong, so would going out and doing what you’ll see in the clip below. Not only bad, but also illegal. And yet you can’t resist it.

The clip is nearly 15 minutes long, but there aren’t enough straight bits for you to get bored. It’s also rather old (it dates back to 2011), but that doesn’t make it any less captivating. It’s one of those internet finds that you just feel like you have to share with everyone else. If you kept it to yourself, you’d someday die and go to hell.

This driver would probably get a thumbs-up from Colin McRae and any other rally driver who did what they did out of passion first and foremost, and not for fame or money. He keeps you on the edge of the seat for the entire length of the clip. No crashing, no taking off, no aliens landing - just impeccable driving. If you have something important to do right now or you’ve got something on the stove, don’t click play because you’ll be sucked in for the next quarter of an hour.

It’s worth mentioning who the two men responsible for this are. Their names are Jose Maria Ponce and Carlos Larrodé, and they’re driving a BMW M3 E30 on an IRC special stage in the Santa Lucia region of the Spanish Gran Canaries.

So, if you’ve put the kids to sleep, locked to door, switched off the oven, pulled down the curtains and turned off your phone, then you’re ready for what the next 15 minutes have in store for you.
