An oil spill is an issue no matter of its location, but when this problem shows up on the Nurburgring, you can expect the situation to dangerously escalate before the drivers on the track get to adapt to the problem.
This is precisely what happened over the weekend, with Sunday's Touristenfahrten (Tourist Days) session being plagued by an oil spill. Alas, the spill happened to take place in Brunnchen - this is one of the toughest corners on the Green Hell, which also makes it one of the few to get a massive gravel trap on its exit.

The highlight of the mayhem caused by the oily track was probably the pedestrian near-crash mentioned in the title. It all started with the driver of what appears to be an E30 BMW M3, who managed to save his Bimmer from hitting anything after slipping onto the grass.

The man stepped out of the vehicle and entered the track, trying to warn incoming drivers about the problem. As faith would have it, though, another 3 Series skid right towards the Good Samaritan. In fact, had the E30 driver not jumped over the safety barrier, back where he should've stayed all along, he would've been hit by the sliding BMW.

While the Yellow flag was being waved, many drivers decided to ignore this. And when sometimes it can be difficult to convince pro racers to slow down when the said flag is shown, you can't expect too much discipline form the average Ring tourist.

The spill lead to multiple crashes, ranging from scratch generators to an accident that saw an E46 M3 losing one of its front wheels. Fortunately, though, the uploader of the Youtube clip explains nobody was injured in the unfortunate series of events.

We would bet on hefty dry cleaning bills for multiple drivers, though, especially for the guy behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS PDK Ring Taxi - we're truly glad we didn't have to write about the second 991 GT3 RS rental/Ring Taxi crashing in the same month. Truth be told, the yellow lights weren't on (that's what the emergency number provided in the clip is for). And while the yellow flag can be incredibly difficult to notice when you're focusing on the apex, the rear-engined cab driver should have such tasks in his job description.

If you plan on visiting the Nordschleife, you should also pay attention to the safety instructions included in the clip. Oh, and remember to have your common sense at hand whenever possible.

P.S.: Given the NSFW language accompanying the uber-tense moment mentioned above, there's simply no way of missing the incident.
