German tuner Manhart is the kind of company that likes to take BMW vehicle to mind-blowing power levels and the aftermarket’s newest project combines this with an open-air experience.
Manhart has fitted an M3 Convertible with the tech goodies from its MH3 V8 RS Clubsport, with the result being a pretty impressive one. Thus, the 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 has been dropped in favor of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 from the X6 M.

The eight-cylinder unit has been gifted with various tech upgrades, such as an Akrapovic Evolution Titanium exhaust system with a 200 cpsi sports catalytic converter and 90mm end pipes. This doesn’t just offer a deep voice to the engine and some extra hp, but is also significantly lighter than the stock part it replaces. By the way, this M3 allows the driver to play with no less than 655 bhp (661.5 ps) and 975 Nm (lb-ft) of torque.

The gearbox and the braking system have also been borrowed from the X6 M, while the rear axle uses a limited-slip differential. The tech story goes on with a KW suspension system that was adapted for the car, as well as 20-inch wheels for both axles.

You’ll be able to meet Manhart’s BMW M3 Convertible at the 2012 Essen Motor Show, so be on the lookout for its GTR bonnet with an oversized power dome.
