BMW decided to mark the first endurance race in which the brand new BMW M235i Racing will compete with a special livery that reminds us of the famous Art Car collection the Bavarians put together a while back.
In order to do so, the BMW Motorsport design team has given the M235i a special look, dominated by M’s traditional colors and the number 235 that seems only appropriate for this car.

Behind its wheel this weekend, in the Nurburgring 24 Hours race will be 4 people. Marcus Schuring and Jethro Bovingdon will be representing the press while BMW Motorsport Junior Alexander Mies and former MotoGP rider Alex Hofmann will be jumping in for the professional side of things.

Hofmann will also be representing TV station Sport1 and he will be fitted with a special camera for special, on-board first-person perspective images for the viewers.

“I am delighted we will get to see this model at the 24-hour race, as well as the many BMW M235i Racings fielded by our privateer teams,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt.

“The livery on this special BMW M235i Racing is fantastic. I must pay a huge compliment to the staff in the Design department. With almost 50 cars in the field, the variety of BMW racing cars at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife is once again mighty impressive in 2014. However, this particular car adds a very special splash of colour and I am certain it will go down well with the fans,” he added.

Of course, not everyone agrees. After all, art is a subjective field where not everyone meets eye to eye but we couldn’t help but notice just how balanced and symmetrical the whole design is. It’s clearly the work of engineers.

The car, on the other hand, will be technically identical to every other M235i Racing model out there. The 3-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine was upgraded to make 333 HP, the suspension was changed with KW dampers and H&R springs, the brakes were improved with M Performance parts and a lot of extra safety measures were also added to the mix like Recaro seats with 6-pot harnesses and a full-on roll-cage.
