The arrival of the M235i model at Detroit marks not only the world debut of the new 2 Series but also the first time the M Performance brand will be available across the ocean from the company’s headquarters.
However, those are not the most important things about this car. The most important thing about it is that it offers great driving pleasure from the get go.

Just as Dr. Herbert Diess said in his introduction of the new model, the car is a blast to drive and can even cause addiction, making all the early comparisons to the original BMW 2002tii model as valid as ever.

The 3-liter engine under the bonnet has 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal to send to the ZF 8-speed gearbox that then takes the power to the rear wheels and sends the M235i into a frenzy to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.8 seconds. Furthermore, the xDrive system will be available  for the new Coupe starting this year, making it even faster.

Compared to its bigger brother, the M4, the 2er might look a bit disadvantaged but with a weight of under 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs) and a limited-slip-differential, this half-M car is worthy of every bit of our attention.
