The guys from Evo recently started a new segment on their Youtube channel where they simply drag race cars that are supposed to be rather similar, within the same segment or, at least have similar amounts of power.
Well, this time, we think they made an exception, pitting a BMW M235i against a Seat Leon Cupra. We get that the Spanish car currently holds the world record on the Nurburgring for a front-wheel-drive car but that doesn’t mean that it can go up against a car that has a completely different setup.

What do we mean by that? Looking over the specs you’ll immediately notice what we’re trying to say. The German has a 3-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine under the bonnet, making 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.

At the same time, all of it goes to the rear axle through either an 8-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual. In this case, the slower version was fitted to the car, meaning the gear changes had to be done manually. According to BMW, the car we’re looking at here should be capable of reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5 seconds.

The Spaniard, on the other hand, is fitted with a much smaller unit, getting its 280 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of power out of 2 liters and 4 cylinders. It’s only advantage here is the dual-clutch gearbox that should be faster than the manual on the Bimmer. Even so, that’s almost cancelled out by the front-wheel-drive.

In the end, the power to weight ratio of the two is dangerously close, as the guys from Evo say. The BMW leads with 222 HP per ton compared to Leon’s 212 HP. Even so, the difference between the two seems a lot bigger than you might expect.
