Car comparisons are common, but ones that are done the way an average buyer things are pretty rare. This one from Carwow has that, thanks to Mat Watson and his witty nature.
Not many people have 35,000 UK pounds that they are willing to spend on a brand new coupe. We are faced with three options, two German and one coming from America.
We are going to come straight out and spoil the video: the BMW M235i is declared the winner. This is very exciting for us and means that our gut feeling about the 2 Series was right all along.
It's not a direct performance test, so practicality, build quality and the way they make you feel are all taken into consideration.
The M235i is the oldest car here and will be replaced in UK showrooms by the M240i very soon. Despite being the smallest coupe BMW makes, the rear seats are just about good enough for adults to fit in. When we tested the car, we concluded that only the lack of elbow room will be noticed on longer journeys.
As for the Audi TT, it's got the best interior here. This is not news, but Mat probably didn't have time to tell you all the problems. For example, you can't tell the passenger to find something on the navigation or even change the station.
That said, what happens in the drag race surprised us. The 230 horsepower Audi is quicker than the M235i. With a 5-liter V8, the Mustang is the one that wins the race, but what did you expect?
As a second car, the Mustang puts the biggest smile on your face. But if that's what you're after, why not get something like a Miata or a second-hand M3?
Coupes are for selfish people who don't want to share their experience with many friends and don't plan on having kids. So the conclusion that BMW's car is the best is justified. And if you also want the security of quattro, there's an xDrive option available everywhere... except Britain.
