Why offer xDrive on a sportscar? Because that’s just how the market is these days, and the German luxury automakers especially love offering everything on any platform, just in case the customer is in the mood for some options.
When speaking with CarandDriver magazine, BMW M Division president Friedrich Nitschke made it official that the upcoming M135i that was previewed as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show will indeed have the rumored xDrive option, as well as a manual or automatic option.

This means BMW wants the M135i to be a rival for the upcoming Mercedes A25 AMG and Audi RS3. So power output from the 3.0-liter straight six engine under the bonnet will make 320 horsepower or more.

The M135i will be offered asa a three-door hatch with an extreme body kit, an M sports braking system and sits on 18-inch M light alloys with a double spoke design. Round the back, you have a double exhaust system like on the 335i and a diffuser integrated into he rear bumper.

The bad news is BMW doesn’t see there being a case for bringing it to the US market... so they won’t!
