Famous racing cars being featured in films and TV series are not uncommon, but a chase involving two of motorsport's most famous vehicles is indeed a rare sight.
Already famous for its track career in Europe, North-America and for featuring in the Steve McQueen's "Le Mans" movie, the Porsche 917K got a starring role the popular German TV series "Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei".
In addition, the famous No. 20 Gulf Oil-liveried car was joined by a rare and almost as fast BMW M1 in Procar configuration, with both cars being used in a high-speed chase scene set on the German Autobahn.
We admit we would have wanted the scene to be a little longer, but we do know that having such rare and expensive vehicles hooned on a highway is not the safest thing to (bear in mind that these cars can fetch millions of dollars at auctions). In fact, we wouldn't be surprise if these two are actually replicas.
Just for a fact: the two time 24 Hours of Lemans winner Porsche 917K outputs more than 600 HP, while the BMW M1 Procar is good for at least 470 HP.
