It is official people, the BMW M division in now a mature hottie. The "///M", as forum users like to call it (the “/”s refer to the three colored stripes on their racing cars) was born back in 1972, when the Bavarians wanted a subsidiary that would handle their motorsport (hence the name) activities.
In May 1972, BMW M GmgH came to life and nobody immagined what it would become back then. Over the years, it has given birth to fantastic road cars, such as the M1, the E30 M3 and other vehicles that know how to push all the right buttons.

Today, BMW has pushed the limits (and broken the pledges) of the M division, expanding this past the traditional go-fast vehicle it used to build. Thus, we get to see diesel M-badged cars and who knows what the future might bring...

PS: the image above shows the BMW M1 art car by Andy Warhol, but this is another story.
