The BMW M4 Convertible is already an impressive piece of machinery. Tuned to deliver the same thrills as its Coupe and Sedan brothers, the drop-top will have the advantage of doing it without a roof or with it hidden, to be more precise.
Of course, that comes with a price. That price is added weight. The convertible is considerably heavier than the Coupe, tipping the scale around 1,800 kg (3,900 lbs), depending on your options list. The price will also be a little steeper.

Speaking of which, one very interesting optional feature will be the M Driver’s Package that’s dedicated only to the most hardcore drivers out there. With it, your car’s electronic top speed limiter is raised to 280 km/h (174 mph) compared to the stock 250 km/h (155 mph) limit. With it, you can defeat your friends in an all out race. The price for this luxury? Just €2,450 ($3,340).

It seems pretty steep to us. Just think about it: unless you live in Germany, why would you want this option? You’ll probably hit that top speed less than 1 percent of the time you’re driving the car. Take it to the track and you’ll still find few places where you can go all out and need to go above the 155 mph (250 km/h) limit.

Looking over the optionals available for this car, it’s even harder to justify it. For €1,900 you can get the Adaptive M suspension or the Professional Navigation System, things that not only would be more practical but you’d also use them a lot more often.

Now we’re not saying that it’s completely useless or expensive but the truth of the matter is, you won’t use it to its full potential and for too long, just think really carefully before purchasing it. That’s how prices for M cars get exorbitantly high...
