While China is proving an irresistible attraction for automakers, as they are rushing to build factories, launch new models, even market-specific ones (like long wheelbase versions of regular sedans), in an effort to be a part of the boom the country is currently going through.
Well, for motorbike manufacturers, India is the equivalent China, as the Indian market is primarily interested in two wheeled forms of transportations, of the cheap kind. Honda, as well as Yamaha are already well on their way to launching market-specific models, which will match the preferences of the local market.

Now, according to visordown.com, BMW’s moto division are looking for a partner to get a boost on the Indian market where it currently only sells its (rather expensive) regular lineup.

Rumor has it that BMW is looking to join efforts with Indian firm TVS (the nations’ 4th largest motorbike manufacturer) to create a cheap BMW-badged motorbike for the market - it would be an obvious move, and BMW is neither the first, nor the last bike maker to go down this lucrative road which will undoubtedly not fare well with purists of the brand.
