BMW Lineup for the Techno Classica Show

Following the announcement made by rival Daimler in regards to the cars it will field at this year's Techno Classica event in Essen, BMW stepped forward today to let us in on what models will be fighting 125 years of Mercedes Benz.

The lineup of cars to be fielded by BMW will be led into battle by the cars of the Rolls Royce brand, who is returning to the Essen event after an absence of five years. The moment is of even greater importance considering the fact that the luxury car maker is celebrating the centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy, the symbol that adorns the hoods of its cars ever since the beginning of last century. The models to be on display at the Rolls stand are the 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III and a Rolls-Royce Ghost.

For the BMW brand, the event will be the venue of choice for the celebration of 50 years of the BMW New Class and 75 years of BMW 328. The lineup of BMW vehicles will be completed with the BMW R2 80 motorcycle.

MINI too is in celebration mode, as it is attending the Techno Classica right when it is celebrating the 50 years of Mini Cooper. The lineup of British cars will be completed with the Austin Mini Cooper S Works Rally Replica, while a new-build of a Mini Cooper S MK I will be a preview of the Goodwood Revival presence later this year.

“We are particularly pleased that after a gap of five years the ultimate heritage brand – Rolls Royce – will once again be represented with us at the stand,” said Karl Baumer, BMW Group Classic director.

“But tradition is not the only aspect on show in Essen. In fact, the Techno Classica itself has become a tradition as far as we are concerned. As always, we are in Hall 12, as always with an overview of our activities during the course of the year, and as always in close coordination with the BMW Clubs.”
