This year will surely be full of gifts for the BMW aficionado. That’s because BMW just launched a new range of accessories that can be perfectly used as Christmas gifts for those that love the blue and white roundel and maybe even own a car with it on the bonnet.
The new range includes basically anything a fan could want for his car but didn’t get when he bought it. Apart from the new interior car scents and travel sets that might not be for everyone, the retrofit electronics are really interesting, to say the least.

New Head-Up Screen solution is actually a retrofit HUD

One of the most useful features on recent cars is definitely the head-up display. Using it will help you keep your eyes on the road, without having to check for crucial parameters while on the road. On older models that was either not available or too expensive to get a couple of years back. Now, you can get it as a retrofit option.

Called ‘Head-Up Screen’, the new device can be installed in your car, right in the driver’s field of view and looks a lot like the system used on the new MINI and the 2 Series Active Tourer.

To install it, you’d have to visit a workshop but according to BMW, “the cable used to connect it with the vehicle electronics is barely visible” which means it will be apparent instead of completely hidden.

Functions include a range of vehicle information, from the fuel gauge and temperature warnings to output display, torque display, cruise control, current speed limit, traffic jam warning and even altitude. Adjusting it is done via an app for Android and iOS.

New audio experience with an Alpine retrofit system

What’s even more impressive is the fact that BMW decided to offer its customers a retrofit sound system too, in collaboration with Alpine. A new head unit that is rated at 420 watts and spreads the signal over six channels with a DSP amplifier and three-way speaker system. Chromed Alpine logos on the tweeter grilles let the occupants know that this is not a regular sound system.

Other interesting electronics include a tablet DVD system for the rear seats that can be attached to the front seats, BMW LED door sills plates, BMW LED door projectors and even touch-up paint sticks for those nasty scrapes you got around town.
