The latest team to reveal its livery for the upcoming WSB season is BMW Italy, who have signed James Toseland and Ayrton Badovini as riders for the squad’s S 1000 RR machines. Joining the WSB team, BMW Italia will be running Lorenzo Zanetti and Sylvain Barrier in the FIM Superstock Cup.

Badovini and Toseland join factory riders Leon Haslam and Troy Corser, with Serafino Foti as team manager of the BMW Motorrad Italy Superbike Team.

While Badovini is coming off a very successful 2010, winning all but one race in the Superstock championship, Toseland’s year was a bit of a disappointment. The two-time WSBK Champion only managed to finish ninth in the final standings.

“This year I'm finally feeling okay physically and am really motivated by having a competitive bike. Another real boost for me is the chance to work with a group of people who have already conquered the bike world,”
said James Toseland. "I have raced in Superbikes and I know how important both the bike and the team are. I think this season we have a great package and I do not want to miss this opportunity."

The Italian team will receive factory backing with the same electronics package as the factory team though it won’t receive the same engine updates as quickly as the factory machines.

“Twenty ten was a particularly satisfying year for BMW Motorrad Italy,”
stated Andrea Buzzoni, director of BMW Motorrad Italy. “As well as victory in the Superstock 2010 FIM Cup, we also took the lead in the motorcycle sector of the Italian market. Now we have this new challenge with the full support of our parent company from Munich, and can also count on a team of experienced engineers and very strong riders.”
