The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is viewed as a bit of a pariah by most people, mainly because it fills a niche that nobody knew needed filling. However, if we were to choose between the 4 Series Gran Coupe and the 3 Series sedan, our choice would be pretty obvious.
In the typical, overly-complicated style of the Germans, BMW is calling this car a Gran Coupe even though it seems more like a sedan to us. To be fair, it is a longer 4 Series Coupe with two extra doors but even so, the definition is pretty far stretched nonetheless.

What the Germans tried to achieve with this car though, was to offer a more elegant version of the sportier 2-door Coupe and a more luxurious alternative to the sedan.

To prove this point, they just released a couple of photos with a 4 Series Gran Coupe dressed to the nines, thanks to the Individual Manufaktur treatment. What that means is that the car you’re about to see is basically unique.

You see, when configuring a BMW you have mainly three choices: the regular options, Individual range, and Individual Manufaktur. While the Individual program offers plenty of options that are rare (and expensive), they are nothing compared to the full-on Manufaktur choice.

In this range, you can are no longer restrained by various combinations. You can choose out of thousands of materials and colors for your car and even bring your own. The car in the adjacent photos was done in black and white completely, featuring trims from the Individual Collection in Piano Black.

The steering wheel features a BiColour Opal White/Black finish with luminous Opal White accents. The same combination of colors and was custom made by the tailors from Individual Manufaktur, just like the seats, the dash, door panels and even the center console. Everything was covered in fine-grain Merino leather, and I don’t know about you, but to me it certainly feels right for a car like the 4 Series Gran Coupe. The one thing I wouldn’t like to know though is the price tag.
