Who knew that the BMW i8 could be used to create art? While some call the car itself a piece of art from an engineering and visual point of view, others see it as ugly. We’re here to tell you that the meaning of the word has been somehow diluted lately.
Too many people use it to describe things that aren’t necessarily unique, the result of a strenuous brain effort or even beautiful as a matter of fact. Recently, I saw a couple of so-called ‘paintings’ that were sold for millions of dollars and, to be honest, I think that my 5-year old nephew could’ve drawn something better.

Gone are the days when a painter used to draw a face or a portrait using solely his brush and you couldn’t tell if it was a painting or a picture. That’s the sort of world we live in today. However, good things also came with the passing of years, things like cinematography that is really an underrated form of art.

Using moving pictures to describe something or to tell a story with suggestive shots is definitely worth more attention. What some people are capable of doing is simply stunning.

BMW teamed up with Christopher Webb to create such art using a BMW i8 and its shapes. The video was created using a combination of stop-motion rings and extended shutter exposure times. All effects were created in-camera using various techniques and by God it looks awesome!

Chris is also known for other work he did with BMW before. He was the one behind the BMW M3 Lime Park Edition and BMW Electronauts commercials so this isn’t his first time working with the Bavarian brand. Other works include spots for various TV series (Californication, Dexter, The Borgias), sport brands (Puma, Under Armour) and even other car brands. What we have here though, is his best work, by far!
