With everyone focused on the i3 at the moment, mostly due to BMW's announcement that it will be unveiling the all-electric vehicle on July 29, we tend to forget about the other i car, the i8.
However, a panel of automotive journalists voted the i8 Spyder as the best production preview vehicle of the year. The i8 was one of the winners, next to the Ford Atlas pickup (that won the award for best concept truck) and the Hyundai HCD-14 Genesis that won the award for best concept car.
The winners were chosen out of concepts that made North American debuts at Detroit, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
Since the i3 and i8 were developed in close cooperation and basically at the same time, since the first will be unveiled this month, expect the other one to follow closely, with a launch date this year.
