BMW i8 Rendered as Proper Race Car

Khyzyl Saleem seems to be on a roll lately, designing some really interesting models, especially BMWs. This time around, he created a BMW i8 that seems to be coming straight from AMG’s worst nightmares.

That’s because BMW doesn’t actually have a rival for their most powerful creations at the moment. They didn’t have one for the SLR for the SLS, and they don’t have one for the AMG GT, but this thing looks like it could take on all of them.

Of course, BMW denied on numerous occasions that they will be making an i8S or i8M because that would represent a mixture of two different philosophies but that won’t stop us from dreaming, right?

Well, this is exactly that, a dream for most BMW aficionados that showcases an i8 featuring a huge intercooler up front for possibly a bigger engine than the 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbo unit that it currently has.

Just imagine an i8 with the S55 engine in the back, making 450 or 500 HP and the electric one from the i3 up front. That would offer it around 670 HP and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque in total. Coupled with the aerodynamic design of the car and the low weight of the CFRP construction, we’re pretty sure it would enter supercar territory.

For now, it’s all just a dream but what nice creation it would be… especially for the 100th anniversary of the brand that will be celebrated next year.

Of course, if BMW would actually make it, it would look like this but a lot more ‘toned down’. It would still be an incredible machine.
