Since September is right around the corner, BMW is set to make the i8 a star even before it's officially unveiled in production form, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In this regard, the Bavarians are now offering test drives in the new car for various publications.
All the magic happens at BMW's superb Miramas test track, in southern France. The guys from autoblog were lucky enough to be invited so they wrote a quick review of the new car and how it feels on the track.

Unlike the i3 experience, where BMW officials asked the testers not to take the city-car to the extreme (as it wasn't designed for such endeavors) with the i8 things changed a bit.

Confident that the i8 will satisfy anyone, the drivers now got to truly enjoy the BMW driving experience. Apart from the boring technical data that we covered earlier, the i8 is just as expected: a sports car for the road that returns over 90 mpg!

Driving it feels ahead of our times, especially due to the especially thin and tall seats made out of carbon fibre. Furthermore, even though the dash was covered while testing, we already can tell that, just like the i3, it will be futuristic to say the least.

Handling is almost perfect, even though it could use some improvements. After all, that's why these tests are conducted, to see what the people think about it and make some improvements based on the feedback.

Overall, this car will live up to its name, once it's released and it will be one of the sports-car enthusiasts' choices mainly thanks to its performances and the incredible fuel consumption.
