The fact that the i8 could be called a supercar should take no one by surprise. It may not have the sprint time of a Porsche 918 Spyder but it its miles ahead of anything else that is currently built by most manufacturers.
The guys from CAR Magazine recognized the impressive breakthroughs this car made in the last few years and decided to list it up amongst the top 20 most wanted cars of 2014. Of course, we’re behind them 100 percent but let’s take a look at what made them take such a decision.

First of all, the new i8 will be returning a fuel consumption of 94 mpg (2.5 l/100 km) but it won’t be no Prius slouch. It will be doing 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.4 seconds from a standstill and that is might close to the new M3’s time of 4.3 seconds (with a manual gearbox).

On top of that, the CO2 emission levels will sit at 59 grams per km, a lot better even than the near million dollar 918 Porsche that makes 79 grams with all its tech mambo jumbo.

That’s all because of the brilliant powertrain made up of an internal combustion 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine that makes 231 HP and an electric one that makes 131 HP, adding up to a total of 362 HP and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque.
