BMW i8 on Forgiato Wheels: Yay or Nay?

BMW’s current most advanced car is not a 7 Series as older fans of the brand would expect but an plug-in hybrid. That’s right, the i8 holds a special place in BMW’s line-up at the moment, showing us where the brand is heading overall.

To create it, the Bavarian brand invested over €2 billion and the results had better shown it. Well, the sales are going great, especially when you consider the small niche the i8 is aiming at and the fact that BMW wants to keep production slow to keep the car’s exclusive character as untouched as possible.

Therefore, you won’t see too many i8s on the road anyway but the one you do see should be kept as stock as possible if you ask us. And that’s because it already looks as if it’s coming straight from 2020. Why change anything?

‘Because we can’ probably was the answer the guys from Exotic Euro Cars had in mind when they fitted an i8 with Forgiato wheels. While we do like their products most of the time, we don’t think that’s the way to go when dealing with the blue and white roundel hybrid.

The Crystal White Bimmer was ‘fortunate’ enough to get matching wheels on as well, the Forgiato Exotics 2.0 featuring a blue and white design that reminds us of the color the Germans invented specifically for the i sub-brand called “i blue”.

You can spot that same color being used all around the i3 and i8. From the side sills and around the badges, to inside the car on the steering wheel and even for the seat belts.

As far as the i8 goes, you’ll have to afford buying this car on particular rather than running it. The starting price is just over $136,000 MSRP but it’s basically nothing considering the performance it brings and the fuel consumption you get.

BMW claims that the i8 will do 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds (as fast as a BMW F10 M5) and sip just 2.1 liter of petrol for each 100 km (121 mpg). With such efficiency and performance, that price tag seems like a bargain, doesn’t it?
