Scheduled to debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in about a week, the production version of the brand new BMW i8 plug-in electric sportscar surfaced the Internet ahead of time via a couple of leaked official photos.
The first image reveals the car’s exterior, which looks almost the same as the concept version unveiled two years ago, with only the transparent doors missing and production-ready alloy wheels, while the second picture gives us a glimpse of the interior, which features a 100% digital instrument cluster, among other details.

As a reminder, the BMW i8 will be powered by a TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder 1.5-liter engine that sends 231 HP and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels, and an electric motor with 131 HP and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) driving the front wheels.

With a combined output of 362 HP and 420 lb ft (570 Nm) of torque and a weight of 1,490 kg (3,258 lbs), the BMW i8 will be able to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standing start in 4.5 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
