The 2013 Dubai Motor Show ended on Saturday after 4 days of viewing pleasure for all the people that were around starting with November 5. Amongst the incredible line-up of super- and hypercars, the audience could also indulge their senses on the brand new BMW i8.
The hybrid plug-in vehicle was on display at BMW's booth in Dubai, in all its glory and was, of course, caught on camera. However, we don't think this one is going to be a big market for a car with the attributes of the i8.
Sure, the car is a technological marvel, using all the possible innovations to bring the weight down and create an almost supercar-like vehicle with the fuel consumption of a hybrid hatch but in Dubai, where gas is cheaper than water, why would anyone want a car with a 94 mpg (2.5 l/100 km) fuel consumption? Nobody cares about such things in the UAE.
On the other hand, the looks of the i8 and all the other tech imbued in it, make it a very appealing vehicle, no matter where you live so you'd better be prepared to see gold plated versions of the hybrid Bimmer on the internet as soon as the first cars get delivered.
