Back in October we told you that BMW is already working on a new model in the i family, the i5, a car that would fill the gap between the i3 and i8 models.
Nowadays, thanks to Autocar, rumors are again spreading, talking about the i5 and what shape it will develop into. It seems like people are just pointing out the obvious this time around.

Nothing new is being reported, other than the fact that the development and production of such a model would be easy, as the cars are made of aluminum and CFRP that are easily molded in new shapes.

Of course, the drivetrain might be changed, because of the size increase. In order to keep up with the dynamic requirements of a BMW, the new model should go for either a bigger electric motor or maybe two of them, turning the car into an AWD EV.

Either way, it’s still way to early to talk about such things as the car is expected to be launched in mid-2015. One thing is for sure though, the Tesla S might have a thing or two to worry about.
