The BMW i3 is on its way, and it is set to be launched onto the world stage in 2014, as the negative rumors surrounding the 'i' program have cleared up. According to automobilwoche.de, BMW’s ‘baby EV’ will be priced similarly to the current entry level 5-Series (the 520i), somewhere in the region of €35,000 - €40,000 ($43,000 - $50,000).
Also, being the quality-concious manufacturer that BMW is, the German manufacturer will definitely not be cutting corners when it comes to material quality, features and gadgets. Factor in the car’s clever electric drive system, and, while not in the least bit cheap, it’s not as expensive as it could have been.
Being the first car sold under their ‘i’ sub-brand, the i3 will need to be a great car, and we have no doubt that it will, as it needs to set the stage for future models, so a lot is resting on ‘its shoulders’. We're also curious if rumors surrounding the pricing of the i8 turn out to be true.
