Back in July, BMW released the recommended price for the i3 in the US, and it was set at USD41,350 without federal incentives or anything and not including the Destination and Handling tax of USD950.
Furthermore, we had no word on how much the Range Extender feature will cost back then, leaving the world to wonder. According to Car Advice the highly sought-after feature will cost around 10 percent of recommended price.
That means the i3 will cost USD45,200 in total with the Range Extender, the option alone being worth USD3,850. With this add-on, made out of a 2-cylinder scooter engine of 650cc that will be charging the batteries, the i3's range will go up to 340 km (212.5 miles) from the standard 190 km (119 miles).
Just as a quick reminder we'll tell you (again) that the i3 will do 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 7.2 seconds and will reach a top speed of 150 km/h (94 mph) without the Range Extender.
The car that weighs 1,195 kg (2,634 lbs) thanks to extensive usage of CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer) will go on sale this autumn with first deliveries expected in 2014.
