The BMW i3 production started at the Leipzig plant a while back and the workers have their hands full at the moment as orders of the new EV have been overwhelming lately. Even so, the guys from BMW still managed to get a couple of shots of the production process on video, to show everyone just what happens behind the closed doors.

The production process is summarily explained in the video below, offering insight into what BMW managed to do and what exactly is so revolutionary in the car’s manufacturing. To make a short lists, it goes like this: all the energy used is provided by renewable sources, the CFRP production process uses eco-friendly products (water cutters, water based paints, etc.), the amount of energy needed has been reduced by 50%, all of this being possible without cutting down on quality or safety.

However, those are just a few highlights of how the i3 will change the way we conceive mobility and the way cars are built. The other part of the story begins when you receive your car and start using it on a daily basis. That’s when you’ll see exactly what BMW has been hard at work for the last 7 years.
