We’ve seen plenty of renderings with BMW’s i3 getting tuned in one way or another in the past but while they looked nice, we always wondered what could be done in real life?
The guys from EVO showed us how an extreme i3 would look like if they had a saying in its styling and it wasn’t as bad as you might think at first. Sure, it wouldn’t cater to every taste but neither is the standard model as it was called ‘boxy’ and ‘ugly’ plenty of times before.

Today we’re looking at a more subtle approach, coming from the guys from S&R Auto, Canada. They thought that despite the hard edges this car has, the overall exterior appearance could be improved to some extent.

Unlike the Japanese, the Canadians were a little more reserved with the changes. So reserved, actually, that they only replaced the wheels that are extremely thin in the standard configuration. That’s all for efficiency but sometimes looks matter as well.

What wheels are those?

Therefore, they added a set of PUR LG04 rims that offer the car a bolder presence. To keep in check with the character of the car, the crew gave the wheels a custom lip that features bolts done in the trademark ‘i blue’ color BMW developed for its sub-brand.

It’s all looking really fresh and we wouldn’t mind taking this i3 for a ride. However, we can’t help but wonder how those wheels affect the car’s efficiency and range. In standard guise, the 170 HP electric motor of the i3 is capable of allowing it to cover 100 miles (160 km) on a single charge thanks to a variety of enhancements.

Could this be possible with these new wheels and tires? Probably not but you can’t have it both ways. It would be interesting to see exactly how much the tires change the car’s range, though. Maybe S&R can give us an answer.
