The worst thing about the i3, by far, is its design. That’s only if you ask opaque-minded individuals that want an electric city-car that looks like the Batmobile. For rational people that understand exactly what you need in a huge, crowded city, it makes perfect sense.
However, BMW got a hold of Benoit Jacob, the head designer of the BMW i sub brand and sat him down to explain the new i3 and everything about it, beginning with its shape, of course.

The car uses the so-called LifeDrive architecture which means that it is divided in two different modules, the Drive Module and the Life Module. The former encases the drivetrain with its electric motor and the transmission whilst the latter actually represents the cabin.

Furthermore, the i3 is on a completely different level when compared to other EVs on the market, using renewable energy not just to propel itself but also in the production process.
