BMW’s new i sub-brand is now on sale around the world and things are looking up for the Bavarians. They risked a lot of money and time in bringing up the first i cars in their history but it seems like it all worked out in the end. The i3 and i8 are writing history today.
For a family that is close to the BMW brand, that wants to make a small impact on the planet and yet still have fun, the dynamic duo they have offer a deal they cannot refuse. Sure, that’s if you can afford it.

The i3 is perfect for city usage and daily chores, with a range of up to 100 miles (160 km) on EV mode alone and all of its tricks that help it inside the city. It’s easy to park (actually it can park itself), has a small turning radius and great visibility with an MPV-like seating position.

On the other hand, the i8 is the wild side of the duo. It’s got more power and an internal combustion engine under the bonnet (or should we say boot?) that works in tandem with an electric motor. The two make 362 hp and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque, plenty for your adrenaline rush needs.

It’s also a great handling car that will have plenty of grip in tight corners, despite running on skinny tires. It will do 134 mpg and emits 49 grams of CO2 into the atmosphere for each kilometer.

One such duo was spotted in London recently, the i8 being caught on camera with its 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine running and sounding brilliant. The i3 on the other hand can’t impress anyone with the silent sound of its electric motor.
