After we saw the MINI installment at the Salone del Mobile that is currently underway in Milano, Italy, it's time for the BMW team to showcase their creations.
BMW i, in partnership with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec created a installation called Quiet Motion. The goal of their work was to create a platform that moved in absolute silence and that inspired tranquility at the same time, just as an electric car should feel for the owner behind the wheel.
The materials used were environmentally friendly and the whole project just moves without making a noise, slowly, like some kind of carousel on which you can lay back and relax.
Overall, according to the creators, the installation is "an allegorical interpretation of movement and contemplation as well as of the forward-looking vehicle design of BMW i in aesthetic and pared-down form, using sustainable BMW i materials."
"This installation translates quite well the idea of mobility of the BMW i which is also quiet. This is the first reading that you will see. There is also a second read, which is also the dialogue that came with the process. Together with the Bourouellec brothers with which we exchanged concepts and ideas," Benoit Jacob, Head of BMW i Design.
