It seems like the celebration of BMW's 100th year of existence will have a lot of surprises coming from Bavaria. Apart from a rumored M8 supercar and other imagined vehicles, we might also get a mental version of the M4.
At least that's what Car Sales Magazine claims, quoting one source they have inside BMW's M division. However, creating an even more hardcore version of the Coupe will be quite a challenge.
That's because the upcoming car already has a lot of innovative materials built into it that make it extremely light. The rumored CSL version would have to go even further, adopting carbon fibre both for the bonnet and trunk, aluminum for the doors and removing the rear seats, all with the intention of taking the weight even lower.
Even so, the difference would still be smaller than it was between the regular E46 M3 and the CSL one, the pair that made history amongst M3 fanatics. Since this is an anniversary model and the US market is and always was an important one for the M3/M4 aficionados, we're expecting the limited edition version to arrive on American soil too.
