In 2013 BMW won 4 awards in the "Automotive and Transportation" category for the excellent design quality some of the latest models in the German manufacturer's line-up feature.

The first Red Dot award was given for the design of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe that "embodies an exceptional harmony of athletic and aesthetic appeal" according to BMW officials.

The BMW F20 1 Series was also awarded a Red Dot for its innovative yet traditional design. Wide doors with frameless windows and the extremely low-slung look of the roofline makes the car look elegant yet sporty at the same time.

The third Red Dot award was given out for the BMW 3 Series Touring design which adds "variability and lifestyle qualities" to the traditional values of a BMW 3 Series car. The smooth downward-sloping design of the roof line and the character lines of the sides of the Touring make it look fast and strong even without moving an inch.

The 4th Red Dot was awarded for the new BMW R 1200 GS motorcycles for "its well-resolved combination of unmistakable design language and athletic off-road stature" according to Design Zentrum officials.
