BMW Fan Created His Own BMW Art Car

Travis Todd from South Louisiana and a member of E46Fanatics managed to turn his BMW 330Ci into an Art Car in only a couple of months.

Travis purchased his 2001 BMW 330ci in September 2008 and it was when he first damaged the car that he began doing more and more serious modifications.

According to E46Fanatics via bmwblog, the incident happened when he was driving home from work and struck a concrete cinder block with rebar sticking out of it thrown from a truck in front of him on a bridge, at 70 mph.

Travis began with an M3 front bumper, M3 mirrors, smoked corners, and also an M3 spoiler.

“After a failed vinyl wrapping attempt of the roof that involved my wife, me, a lot of four letter words, a squeegee, spray bottle, and a hairdryer, we decided to have the roof sprayed jet black while the car was at the shop getting the other pieces painted. This "incident" also allowed the purchase of 18" CSL wheels and Tein S-tech springs,” Travis says.

But the makeover didn’t end here. 30-LED angel eyes, upgraded HID bulbs, HID foglight conversion, LED license plate lights, DIY intake, DIY front lip, UUC shift knob, Aluminum pedal set, and various stock exhaust configurations followed.

Travis’ latest acquisition was a set of 19” staggered Forte Phatty F23 wheels in black chrome finish.

The original BMW Art Car Project was started by the French racecar driver Herve Poulain in 1975. His first idea was to have his BMW racing car painted in an unique way.

BMW Art Cars have been exhibited by numerous museums and galleries throughout the world, including the Louvre in Paris, the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, and the Guggenheim Museums in New York and Bilbao.
