Yesterday, BMW held an event where various journalists around Europe got to go for a test drive on the passenger seat of the BMW M3 and M4, whilst DTM drivers were behind the wheel.
During that event BMW also gave them some extra info on the two cars that share a 3-liter turbocharged engine. The power output is said to be 430 HP whilst the torque will be somewhere over 500 Nm (370 lb-ft). Those are impressive numbers but wait, there's more.
The weight of the M4, the area where most recent M cars had problems in recent years, is claimed to be under 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs). That's i8 territory. With an even more powerful engine and around the same torque, this will be a proper replacement for the M3 Coupe, as we expected it to be.
In this, latest spy video of the M4 around the Nurburgring, we can also spot the car being tested with M Carbon Ceramic Brakes, another strong point of the new car. The new brakes will probably be available as an optional feature, since they are pretty expensive.
No matter what brakes you're using though, this new car will surely be a blast to drive, a breath of fresh air after all the criticism that hit the M5 and M6 models lately.
