Stepping in to take over where the E92 3 Series left off, the 4 Series is on its way to greatness. That's no surprise to us, as we expected BMW to make sure there's a worthy successor to the 3er, on the market, that will keep us following the Bavarian company into the future.
Surely, there would be some difference but all of them are positive, adding up to an improved Coupe, as CAR Magazine found out in their review, done in Portugal, at the  M Performance Parts unveiling.

Just like the others, they had a 435i at their disposal to make sure they like the 4 Series, a car fitted with the smooth 3-liter N55 engine and 306 HP (400 Nm of torque) and the 8-speed automatic gearbox.

They make a really good point proving this car is fast, even with 'only' 300 HP, as it is faster to 100 km/h (62 mph) than the 5-liter V8 on the Jaguar XK and that says a lot. With a 0-62 mph time of 5.4 seconds, the 435i is dangerously close to the Porsche Cayman and that's no joke.

The ride is enjoyable, fun and sporty. The car is better balanced, has the lowest center of gravity out of the BMW line-up and is stiffer than the E92. The steering is more direct and offers more feedback.

As a verdict, for the UK market, the 435i makes perfect sense and is a pace-setter for driver-fun in a £40,000 coupe.
