At first we thought the photos were just some new rendering done by some obscure guy in a basement but after a while we knew these are the real deal. After the fiasco with the accidental leak that happened earlier this year however, most of the world knew how the 4er would look like.

It doesn't matter now anyway. We still want to indulge ourselves in these eye-candy photos as much as we can. The best news we could get is that the production version looks a lot like the concept car that we all loved.

Compared to its predecessor, the 4er is 26mm longer, 43mm wider and 16mm lower, measuring 4,650mm in length, 1,830mm in width and 1,360mm in height. Also, the wheelbase was stretched by 50mm (2 inches) to 2,810mm.

However, even though the car is a bit bigger, its lighter than the E92, using some new materials from the i3. This means we're in for some good ol' fun, once we get our hands on it.

The engines that will be available at first, according to Motor-Talk, are the 420d (with the 2-liter 184 HP diesel under the bonnet) and the 428i (2-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 245 HP) for Europe.

The top of the range model will be the 435i, with the N55 engine at the front and its all-familiar 306 HP and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal. All versions will be available with the 8-speed automatic ZF transmission.

As for the interior, little has changed, BMW retaining basically the same outlines from the F30. One thing we didn't know about are the 40:20:40 reclining rear seats that will allow you to carry large packages.

So, what do you think about the new 4 Series now that it's out in the open?
