BMW F30 335i xDrive with M Performance Package Kit Test Drive

BMW announced it will be offering an upgrade kit for all models fitted with the N55 engine but no one expected the bump in power to be so impressive. Even Steve Dinan had to admit that you get a lot of bang for the buck with the M Performance Package kit.

The guys from MotorTrend wanted to do a test drive of the F30 335i and went full out. Their car's price tag rose to $61,860 and had almost everything you could possibly want on it, including the M PPK.

With some extra 20 HP and 32 lb-ft (50 Nm) of torque, the totals for the 335i now reach 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. Paired with the 8-speed automatic (that feels like a dual-clutch even though it isn't) the PPK 335i will catch up to a manual M3 on a 0-60 mph sprint.

Of course, the M3 will be better on a track, where the 335i will prove to be a bit unstable and less agile than the top-of the line M but it's still more comfortable on a daily basis and more down to earth, perfect for a man with a family.

The 335i will also be more fuel efficient on the highway, not that this would matter too much. After all, the car is about having fun and not watching the fuel gauge. With this pack installed, the 335i takes back the crown of fastest 3er from its diesel brother, the 335d xDrive.
