When the new 3 Series was launched, the world had big expectations, as always. All the models that came before were almost immediately crowned as kings in their segment and therefore, the F30 model had to follow. It was as simple as that.

Today, almost 2 years after the launch, the 3 Series is still a reason for people to have heated debates over who reigns kind on the mid-size sedan segment. In the US, the choices are a bit more limited than in the EU, most importably because of lacking some diesel units.

The base model is the 320i whilst immediately above it, you'll find the 328i, the car the guys from 2theredline had for a quick review. Even though they showed some amateurism whilst reviewing it, we can still use their video as reference point, as it has some interesting facts in it, that will surely catch your eye, if you're in the market.

First of all, you'll notice that the interior didn't change drastically, and that you can live without all the fancy and expensive options the test drive cars usually have when handed out to the press. You'll also notice the problems that arise with the transmission column in the back seats and how dirty the central console will get over time if people don't use all four doors.

On the road, some people complained about the new electric power steering but as you'll notice in the video, once the gas pedal is pressed and you feel the might of the 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque you'll forget all about that and you'll immediately have a smile on your face, just as you can see in the video. The car feels a lot faster to 100 km/h (62 mph) than the reported 5.9 seconds with the automatic 8-speed gearbox and it will get you even better ratings than what the EPA estimated.

Adding everything up, the 328i is still a very capable car that can be bought without the entire options list on it, making it quite affordable and enjoyable at the same time. Watch the video to make sure you make an informed decision if you're on the market for luxury sedan within the USD50,000 price tag.
