Finding useful tips and do it yourself guides for a car as new as the F30 3 Series could prove to be a bit of a headache. That's where we step in, making sure you get everything you need, right here, on our blog.
Today we're showing you how to remove or replace the front kidney grilles on your brand new F30 3 Series. This guide should work for any model and we're sure it works on the 328i and 335i models, since it has been tried on them.
What you need is: a T20 Torx, a T30 torx, a small flat head screwdriver or pick tool and a bit of spare time. The whole ordeal should take more than 30 minutes and you'll find all the necessary steps to follow right here.
First, you need to locate the rubber hood seal at the front of the engine bay then you'll have to remove it, of course, starting from a side. That's the easy way to do it but if you want to struggle, you can try prying it loose from the middle.
Then you need to remove eight screws, six of which will be T30 torx and two will be T20. The T20 screws are located on top of the headlights, towards the kidney grilles. After removing these screws, the bumper cover should slide forwards but when pulling on it, you should be careful not to break the four metalic clips that keep it together.
Pulling it forward should give you access to the backs of the kidney grilles. You'll need to use a flat head screwdriver or a pick tool to pry the kidney grilles free from the cover using the little space at hand. There are 3 clips on both the top and bottom of the grill as well as 1 clip on each side.
Once one of the grilles is out, access to the other is easy because of the room you've just created for yourself. Pry the other one loose first, before fitting the new ones back on. Doing that will be as easy as pushing the grille on the car. Good luck!
