The F20 1 Series received a lot of criticism for its new front end, but a lot more acclaim for the interior. Compared to the old 1 Series, the F20 has a lot more room and feels more comfortable.

Honest John
took a 125d M Sport model for a test drive. This version has a 2-liter diesel engine that boasts 218 HP and 450 Nm of torque. Therefore it's not difficult to imagine how sporty the 125d will feel like on the road, especially with the M Sport package.

However, don't expect your back to concede after a couple of kilometers because, as Honest John admits, it feels comfortable enough to turn driving this car into a real pleasure.

The combined fuel consumption for this version is just 4.8 l/100 km. Remember, that's for a 218 HP diesel that accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and that can take the car up to 240 km/h.

As a day to day car, the F20 1 Series has been seriously improved. It has more room in the back, the boot space is enormous if you fold the back seats, the driving position has also been improved and the steering is more precise.

The improvement over the E82 1 Series is so big that the car is barely recognizable and, in the worlds of the honest man himself: "if you're looking for a small, sporty, rear wheel drive hatchback, this is the one to go for".
