BMW F20 1 Series Launched in India, Starting at $32,000

This week saw the introduction of the smallest offering from BMW on the Indian market, the F20 1 Series. Tuesday, in a big ceremony, BMW India invited cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and race car driver Armaan Ebrahim launched the new model.
Indians can now choose out of four variants of the 1 Series, one based on a petrol engine and three being diesels. The entry level model is the 116i, starting at Rs 20.90 Lakh ($32,000), up next is the 118d at Rs22.90 Lakh ($35,000), followed by the 118d Sportline version (Rs 25.90 Lakh or $39,700) and 118d Sportline Plus model for Rs 29.90 Lakh ($45,800).

The 116i is fitted with a 1.6-liter engine developing 136 HP and 220 Nm of torque, whilst the 118d models come with a 2-liter diesel engine that develops 143 HP and 320 Nm of torque.

All models come fitted with the standard 8-speed ZF gearbox and can be fitted with the manual 6-speed on free of charge. Standard features include air conditioning leather multi-function steering wheel, Start/Stop button, CD player with AUX support, black textile upholstery with silver trim.
