Previously set for a Moscow launch, this summer, the BMW F16 X6 might see its first live crowd in a different place, due to the recent Ukrainian crisis. Even so, the Germans still have to finish the thing in the first place.

In order to do so, public road tests are a must, as the car will be mostly driven around cities and not off road or on the track alone as our previous spyshots seem to suggest. The new Sport Activity Coupe was just spotted in Koln, Germany, wearing the traditional BMW camouflage around its front and rear fascia and Space Gray Metallic underneath.

Up front we could spot the new corona rings that seem to resemble the ones used on the F15 X5 and the turn signal lights that are very much the same as on the current Sport Activity Vehicle and the X4.

From the side, a bigger greenhouse seems to be hiding under that camouflage, hopefully done to help out with the headroom issues most people complained about in the past. Round the back, the same LED strips will probably be used, with a thinner, sleeker design.

As for the engine line-up, expect a different approach compared to the X4. If the smaller SAC is using 2- and 3-liter units, the X6 is expected to use bigger powerplants, the entry-level one probably being the 3-liter petrol turbo N55 unit.

Going up a step, the xDrive50i model is expected to be launched at first too, with the N63 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 at its core, making 450 HP and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque. An M version is also expected, with a probable launch at Paris, this year.
